The Makeover Game

It’s amazing what you’ll do when you should be writing.

Blame it on these two.

Anyway, let’s start with my before picture, which is so very… before.

Lani Before

Okay. First, I went blonde, because I never a day in my life thought I could pull off blonde. Turns out…

Lani Blonde

… I was right. But still. Good information to have. The beauty of the online makeover? No one has to come over, pour you a glass of wine, hand you a Kleenex and say, “It’ll grow out.” Bonus.

Next, of course, I decided to go a little daring, and discovered…

Lani Blue

…there’s such a thing as too daring. Oy. So, next, I decided to pick something that was a little more me. And so I picked the color that was closest to my (bottled, who are we kidding?) color, the do that was closest to my do (although, with it actually being done as opposed to pulled back into a ponytail in a desperate rush out the door) and got…

Lani Normalish

…this. Not too bad, and I definitely like the glasses, although they do make me look a little Laura Roslin-ish.

RoslinWhich is not a bad thing because Laura Roslin is a very sexy woman. As to the question, what would Roslin do? I think she’d definitely get the glasses.
So… I just might.

Yep, Crusie hooked mo on this last night… And it is a handy little tool in case you do have a case of “I hate my hair” and suddenly decide to do something rash like cut it all off or die it rainbo colors and join a commune–it allows you to take a deep breathe, sip a little wine, and go—”Hmmmm–maybe not”. Always a good thing…!

  2. Sheri says:

And I think the blonde do is cute on you–really. I found I was better going darker–go figure.

I think you look pretty foxy as a blonde!

I think it’s just the program that makes the glasses overtake your face. But, yeah, a cut would look good on you. Ponytails are God’s gift to busy mothers, but every now and then you need to look sexy without too much effort. Because, again, we are busy mothers.

I knew I liked you, Lani; you watch Battlestar Galactica! :) You know, I kind of like the blonde, but agree ink the glasses are great.

  6. Caryle says:

    Gah! no edit button… *sigh*

that should read “agree the glasses are great.”

I love the blonde! But the red is great, too.

The blond isn’t bad but you’re definitely a redhead. It shows off your eyes and skin tone. You look amazing.

A couple of years ago after National, I decided I wanted short, very sophisticated red hair, like Christina Dodd. I took a book of hers with her loverly pic along to the hairdresser. I was so excited. I was going to create a whole new me.

    She said, “No.”
    I said, “But why not?”
She said, “You just don’t have that hair texture, it would never stay in place no matter what products you use, and that shade of red will make your much older skin sallow.”
Can you believe I still tipped her after she made me boring brown? Ha ha. Actually I love her, she’s a great stylist and she was absolutely right.

Mine is always cutting my hair. Off. Short even. No matter what I tell him he gives me this fabulous cut and says “Trust me–this is better” and damn it–he’s always right! So now I have grown my hair out and I bring my daughter to him but I just smile and stay out of the chair myself…

I have been red, blonde, and my nautral color of dirty dishwater–such an attractive color. I want to go sable brown now. Doggone makeover sites anyway!

And I love the red hair style on you–very carefree and it just looks like you… You should do it!

LOL, okay, everyone who commented – I wanna see your makeovers! If you have a blog and do the makeover, let me know!

As for the blonde thing, I don’t know – I really love that warm honey blond that’s popular, but in order to go lighter, you have to have it professionally done every six weeks, and I seriously lack that kind of motivation. Plus… I don’t know. Not right.

The red is my usual color, and that style is close to what I usually do when I bother to do anything. I get my hair done at Supercuts. I’m just that kind of girl.

  11. Mine are up on my blog now.
The blonde has good and bad… I think a darker blonde base with lots of highlights in that color would be better. (So many parameters lacking on the iVillage controls! Or maybe I’m spoiled by Photoshop and Paint Shop?)
The red is great, and the glasses are sexy on you too!

Lani you are a beautiful lady no matter what color. I liked the blue. Seriously the red (maybe toned down a bit) and that cut really bring out the best in your features. I love the glasses. Very attractive look.
